Editor’s Note: At the end of 2020, the Rallycross Series was about to finish. The last two events will be held in January 2021. Korben is truly sitting in 4th place with 26 points, Mike Minns in 3rd with 28 points, Rene De Le Trinidad in 2nd with 32 points, and Chet Manly in 1st with 42 points. Now 17 points for the win is a big pill to swallow with the maximum number of points you can get in a day being 11. (8 for first place, 1 for participating, 1 for the fastest time in class, and 1 for no penalties.)

The car I was driving is a 1993 Toyota Celica GT.

Luckily I got sponsored by my business partners, for example, MaXpeedingRods, Hamm’s Tires, GoPro, etc. I have to say that the competition was really harsh and the results didn’t come by easily. I raced 6 events, including 40 runs, which is 5000 miles driven. Never had I expected that I had 2 mechanical failures and a crash. But fortunately, I am able to podium in 3rd place with one single round champion and two single rounds runner-up.

What it was that brought me the achievements? Without the support of my sponsors, I could not make it. I was running with MaXpeedingRods 24 ways dampening adjustable coilover for Toyota Celica in the whole year of competitions. I got asked about how my MaXpeedingRods coilovers were doing after my season of Rallycross ended. So I’ve decided to give my honest review of them.

When I started the season I was on a very small budget. This was the best option for suspension adjustments as they are affordable. I had never installed or adjusted coilovers before. I went in knowing this was a budget option with the mindset to learn how to adjust and set up a car with a minimal loss if I broke something.

The install process was relatively easy, even with one person. I used my jack to lift the hub assembly and coilovers into position in the tower and locked it down. Took about 4 hours since I was doing brakes and rotors at the same time. Once I had a camper gauge in hand and the car was level I was able to do my own front end alignments.

I bought these coilovers for racing only. I knew going in would be a stiffer ride. Roads in my area are in decent shape. But I was very impressed with how they held up in the dirt. They allowed me to get that camber angle and keep my grip through the corners. Once I added the racing seats the MaXpeedingRods side seat mounts and harnesses, I was glued to the seat and barely felt the stiffness anymore.

Now that the season is over, my opinion hasn’t changed. I raced 6 events, ran 40 runs, and put down 5,000 miles on the coilovers. I got 3rd place in a championship series and a big part of that I attribute to MaXpeedingRods coilovers.
