Editor’s Note:
This blog shares highlights from a hands-on review by @FABAutomotiveDetailing. In his video, Fab installed a set of MaXpeedingRods OE-spec struts on his Dodge Ram after the OEM struts began leaking. Below is a summary of his installation experience, driving impressions, and final verdict.

Why MaXpeedingRods Struts?

Fab’s truck had leaking front struts, but due to warranty terminology, replacements weren’t covered. Since he frequently tows a camper, keeping the stock ride height and stable steering was important. Instead of piecing together springs, mounts, and struts separately, he opted for a pair of MaXpeedingRods OE strut assemblies—a pre-assembled unit including strut, spring, and mount. At $139 for the pair with free US shipping, the value was hard to beat.

Product Features

According to Fab, MaXpeedingRods struts looked beefier than OEM, with thicker strut rods while maintaining identical fitment. Manufacturer claims include:

Japanese ENOS damping oil tested for stability between -40°C to 80°C.

Rigorous testing standards:

  • Springs tested for over 600,000 fatigue cycles.
  • Dampers tested for 3 million endurance cycles with minimal performance loss.
  • Brackets and dust covers tested hundreds of thousands of times for durability.

OE compatibility: Designed to match factory dimensions and stroke.

Installation Process

Installation wasn’t without challenges. One sway bar nut was seized, requiring Fab to get creative by removing the knuckle and prying the control arm down. With some teamwork—his wife helped with leverage—the struts went in smoothly.

He also emphasized safety: never attempt to remove the central spring retainer, as it holds compressed spring force.

Driving Impressions

On the first test drive, Fab noticed a “clunk,” which turned out to be sway bar links that needed tightening once the suspension settled. After adjustment, the ride felt stable:

Pros: Smooth on highways and rough roads, stable under towing loads, and perfect OEM fitment.

Cons: A bit stiff over sharp transitions like bridge joints or parking lot entrances.

Ride height initially dropped about half an inch but quickly leveled side-to-side and softened slightly after 500+ miles.

Long-Term Feedback

After towing and daily driving, Fab rated the struts highly:

  • Excellent stability when hauling his camper.
  • Firmer than OEM, but never unstable or bouncy.
  • Great value considering the low price point.

He did note that long-term durability (rust, seals) would require more time to judge.

Final Verdict

Fab gave MaXpeedingRods OE strut assemblies an 8.5 to 9 out of 10, deducting slightly for stiffness. Overall, he was impressed by their build, fitment, and cost-effectiveness:

“They look just like the OE struts… fantastic price for a well-made product. For $132, I’d deal with the stiffness all day!”

For budget-conscious drivers needing a plug-and-play suspension replacement, Fab’s verdict is clear: the MaXpeedingRods OE struts are worth considering.
