As a car enthusiast I am always on the lookout for the next best thing and I think I’ve Found it. Maxpeedingrods has released their Latest T7 series Coilovers for the E36.  The T7 Series is their highest level in their coilover series and there’s reasons for that.

Upon unboxing, My first impressions of the T7 series coilovers were what appeared to be all the new and improved features. I Have run previous version of this coilover and the structural changes to the T7 are impressive. The new thicker steel shock bodies include integrated and beefy sway bar mounting point that retain the factory sway bar mounting point. It appears that Maxpeedingrods took all of the e36 owners concerns of the weak sway bar mounting points into thought with this new coilover. The shock body has a thicker and overall more appealing powder coating which will help with overall life longevity and durability during both harsh track days conditions, as well as street driving.

Going up from there, The fully threaded shock inserts provide a 24-way dampening adjustability. I find this will allows users to fine tune and tweak their set up to their driving style. Personally the wide variety of adjustment possibilities has allowed me to fine tune the suspension for street and track use with minimal hard work. What makes this adjustment so easy is the newly redesigned lock collars. The lock collars have one completely flat side that prevents the coilover wrench from slipping off and wreaking havoc on your fingers. We thank you for that.

Lets talk Springs. Owning previous versions of this coilover, I can say that the spring rates have been really well thought out with the new version. Front spring rates at 9k and rear at 12k offers a nice balance between street and track use. They are comfortable on the street but when it comes to the track they are able to handle what you throw at them. The increased spring rate design allow for more confidence in the corners so you can focus on your driving line.

Finally, the upgraded top hats with pillow ball mounts are a significant improvements over previous versions. The top hats are made out of a decent thick 6061 aluminum with adjustments for the camber and caster. Maxpeedingrods has taken criticism from the e36 owners about the adjustments interfering with the stock strut towers and have resolved that issue. Thus making track side adjustments even easier.

For me the T7 series with the new changes and improvements are a budget friendly well designed and performing coilover. I can see why the T7 Coilovers are popular among automotive enthusiasts and racers because they offer easy adjustable ride height and damping settings, allowing for improved handling and performance in all stages of your build.

If you’re in the market for coilovers, I would highly suggest giving the Maxpeedingrods T7 coilover a real chance. With all the changes and improvements these are a well designed and well thought out coilover for the money. Every project has a budget and these will fit the bill while not breaking the bank.
