The 5-inch LED light pods are a new product line from MaXpeedingRods. These light pods come with multi-color RGB backlighting, a compact design, and a price that makes them accessible for off-road enthusiasts and DIY vehicle builders.

To see if these new lights hold up, Gunslinger Outdoors ran a simple but clear waterproof test to show how the lights perform when fully submerged.

Test Setup

The video review focused on a two-step test:

  1. Submerging the lights while they were turned off for three minutes.
  2. Submerging the lights again while they were powered on for another three minutes.

The test used a clear container filled with water to make any leaks or fogging easy to spot. A GoPro camera recorded the whole process underwater for clear proof.

Phase 1: Lights Off

In the first step, the pods were placed underwater with no power. This checks the basic seal of the housing and lens. After three minutes, the reviewer confirmed there was no sign of water intrusion — no fog, leaks, or moisture inside the lens.

Phase 2: Lights On

Next, the lights were turned on while fully submerged for another three minutes. This step tests not only the housing seal but also the durability of the internal electronics and connectors under pressure. Again, the lights stayed dry inside and worked as normal during and after the test.

RGB Functionality and Build Quality

After the test, the reviewer pointed out that the RGB running light feature continued to work perfectly. The video shows both steady color and dynamic rainbow modes running without any glitch.

Build-wise, the housing and lens showed no damage or sign of weakness. For the price point, the host commented that the build quality is better than expected and that these pods would be a good option for buyers looking for affordable off-road lighting with simple RGB features.

The test shows that the MaXpeedingRods 5-inch LED light pods have good sealing against water, making them suitable for off-road use in wet or muddy conditions. The RGB feature adds extra styling options but does not affect the core performance of the main beam.

Reminder on Legal Use

As always, check your local laws before using RGB or colored lights on public roads. RGB lighting is best used off-road or on private property to avoid any legal issues
