Part One: Mindset

Dylan’s journey into drifting reflects a path that many grassroots drivers can relate to, where progress comes from repetition, experience, and time behind the wheel.

“I’ve been drifting for about ten years now.”

Rather than a single defining moment, his early development was built gradually through consistent practice and track experience.

His first competition, however, marked a turning point.

When did you get your first win?

“My first win was in 2019 at La Nordura, in the amateur category. It was actually my first competition, and I finished first.”

Like many drivers, the result came as a surprise, but it quickly became a source of motivation.

“I was really surprised and happy. It gave me a lot of motivation to keep going.”

When it comes to his setup, Dylan has taken a consistent approach over the years.

“I’ve always driven BMW E36s.”

For drivers like Dylan, staying with a familiar platform allows for a deeper understanding of how the car behaves under different conditions, which becomes increasingly important as competition levels rise.

As the sport continues to evolve, drivers are also adapting to new challenges.

Where do you see yourself in the next few years?

“Honestly, it’s getting more and more difficult. The level keeps increasing, and cars are becoming more competitive. It also requires a bigger budget to keep up.”

As the demands of the sport continue to grow, drivers like Dylan are facing increasing pressure—not just in performance, but in maintaining the resources needed to stay competitive.

“I’ll just try to drive as long as possible and do my best. If I find the right partners, we’ll see how far it goes.”

Now in his fourth year working with MaXpeedingRods, Dylan continues to build his program step by step, supported by a setup focused on reliability and consistency on track.

As the sport keeps pushing forward, so does everything around it.

👉 In Part 2, we dive into what that really looks like on track—from mechanical setbacks to the moments that don’t go as planned.
