R33 Skyline

ZacBaldy is an auto YouTuber who owns an R33 Skyline with an RB25 motor in it. It is a beautiful car that many people in the United States desire to have. ZacBaldy has been working on his R33 for a while to get it where it is right now. It has a precision flush stance on gold TE37 wheels.

As of the release date of this video, ZacBaldy had a stout Ford Falcon XR6 with a large turbo making around 600 horsepower at the tire. He later sells it to make room for an RX7.

ZacBaldy starts off the video by discussing and hashing out his plans for the Skyline R33. This is an important step that many enthusiasts overlook. It seems that most people in the community have lavish plans for their vehicles that will never come to fruition. This is often because many people don’t have a real plan for the car. They have a dream but they don’t discuss the process in which they get there.

ZacBaldy explains that the next step for his R33 Skyline is to add more power. To do this he has decided to use the MaXpeedingRods aftermarket replacement RB25DET turbocharger. This is a turbocharger designed for the Nissan RB motors and is a great option for those who want to keep the stock location and want the capability of 500 horsepower.

ZacBaldy was pleasantly surprised by how well the turbo was performing. He even stated that his favorite part of the turbo was the “whoosh” noises it now makes.

ZacBaldy’s next section of the video is him on the dyno with the Skyline R33 getting the tune worked out for his new MaXpeedingRods turbo. ZacBaldy made 16 pounds of boost on his RB25 equipped R33 Skyline. Engine-wise, the Skyline is fairly stock. The exhaust manifold is stock, the intake is stock, and the downpipe is a restrictive stock downpipe that really diminished the turbo’s power potential.

This is due to the added back pressure post turbo which slows the turbine speed down and decreases the pressure differential between pre-turbo and post turbo. This is a very technical part of the turbo system, but on the most basic level, the user does not want an excessive amount of backpressure post turbocharger.

MaXpeedingRods RB25DET replacement turbocharger

ZacBaldy was impressed by the performance of his MaXpeedingRods turbocharger. But how could he not be? The turbo has a ductile iron exhaust housing to withstand extreme temperatures and prevent fatigue. Its safe operating temperature is up to 700 degrees Celsius or 1292 degrees Fahrenheit. It comes with an aluminum compressor impeller designed by our best engineers and machined to the finest tolerances.

The impeller design is meticulously developed to have the lowest weight possible while maximizing flow and is balanced. This leads to more power on less boost and cooler intake air temps, making the car even more reliable.

As ZacBaldy said, this turbo is incredibly responsive as well. He could not tell a difference in spool time from the smaller factory turbo but he stated that it pulls much harder and holds the power better. All in all, it would be fair to say that ZacBaldy’s Skyline R33 is a certified ripper.
