Today, our friend Gavin Harmon and his brother will share their experience in using MaXpeedingRods’ K04-001 turbocharger and coilover in Volkswagen Golf Mk4.

Volkswagen Golf Mk4

The Volkswagen Golf Mk4 is a compact car, the fourth generation of the Volkswagen Golf and the successor to the Volkswagen Golf Mk3. Launched in October 1997 for the 1998 model year, it was the best-selling car in Europe in 2001. The Mk4 was a deliberate attempt to take the Volkswagen Golf series further upmarket, with a high-quality interior and higher equipment levels.

So here comes a question, can MaXpeedingRods’ turbo fit well on this vehicle?

As Gavin and his brother said in this video, it was the first time for them to try out our MaXpeedingRods’ products. In the beginning, they were actually a little bit worried that the turbo wouldn’t fit, but after testing it in the car, they were able to put that doubt to the rest.

Says Gavin:” the car does sound freaking sweet, but honestly the best part about the turbo is the noise comes with. I kind of thinking that turbo was the original comes to the vehicle……the K03s to the K04 is almost no different (Editor: the K04 is an upgraded version of the K03, the compression housing size will be different, so the installation may require a little modification – add a silicon hose). The sound is good especially from the outside, you can even hear the turbo is working efficiently. The turbo has a significant increase in compressor wheel size but the pulls are good and it’s not lagging, and it still has quick spool.”

It was a great experience working with Gavin, not only because of his and his brother’s expertise but also because of his passion for it, not to mention his positive attitude towards life and our products. So, they couldn’t wait to get their hands on another one of our popular products, the coilover.

In the second video, they even updated something new about the turbo they have installed: “Now the turbo already ran 3000 miles and it is amazing! It holds the boost, it opens up and the sounds incredible, and it looks exactly the way it did as I put it in.”

However, what are their thoughts on the coilover?

They compared the ride before the coilover was installed to the ride after the coilover was installed. The whole process takes them 3 weeks to install and test. According to Gavin: “It feels so much better when you drive aggressively, if you want to feel the performance gains then this is definitely it is. And obviously, you get what you pay for, in this case, I think you even get more than what you pay for!”
